4 Preparations for CHANGE

- PASTOR EVAN PITTS

We need to be prepared for the training God has for us in order to change and grow! A LOT OF PEOPLE GIVE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAINING AND THEY NEVER SEE CHANGE. CHANGE produces BREAK THROUGH and BLESSING! Look at your neighbor and say I AM READY FOR CHANGE!!!

Luke 3:4-6 NLT

“Isaiah had spoken of John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him! The valleys will be filled, and the mountains and hills made level. The curves will be straightened, and the rough places made smooth. And then all people will see the salvation sent from God.’””

John was saying, "fellas there's a NEW Sheriff in town! Get ready for things to change!" RESISTING CHANGE CAUSES PAIN! Jesus said, "you can't put old wine in new wine skins, or a new patch on an old cloth". He explains that only tearing and bursting comes from trying to mix the two. I don't know about you, but that doesn't seem appealing to me! The church is to equip us, not entertain us! Philippians 2 says GOD IS WORKING IN YOU! The question is, are you working with Him or are you resisting change?

There are 4 Preparations for Change.

1. PREPARE YOUR MIND

-God wouldn't have given you armor if there wasn't a FIGHT!

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 NLT

“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.”

Just as Jesus said, "it is written" in the wilderness to overcome the temptation of the enemy, we need to use the Word to fight!

2. PREPARE FOR SETBACKS

If we never experience opposition, we will never see the faithfulness of God!!! Calm seas never make great captains. Always remember, your setback is a set up for a comeback! Begin to see your opposition as opportunity!

Say this with me,

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV

3. PREPARE TO DO YOUR BEST

Cutting corners only brings pain and brokenness. Ask Jacob!

Colossians 3:23 says, we need to work with our whole heart at everything we do as unto The Lord. When we do our best God does the rest!

4. PREPARE TO STAND YOUR GROUND

When it gets ROUGH... DON’T BACK DOWN!

II Timothy 4:7 NKJV

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Like Paul, let's be ready to finish what God started in us! Friends, let’s prepare our hearts for change and enter into the blessings that have been promised to us!
